Lois Hicks Wozniack | Saxophone
Lois Hicks-Wozniak http://loishickswozniak.com/ is an active concert saxophonist in the New York Metropolitan and the Hudson Valley region. Sponsored by Artists International Presentations, she performed her New York Recital Debut at Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall in January 1996, and then served active duty in the U.S. Army as a saxophonist with the United States Military Academy Band at West Point from 1996-2004. She resigned her position in the Army to take on her most prized role as proud mom of four terrific children (two sets of twins!) Mrs. Hicks-Wozniak has performed with many ensembles to include the Albany Symphony and the Hudson Valley Philharmonic and she was principal saxophonist with the New Jersey Wind Symphony 2005-2018. She is a guest soloist with numerous ensembles, including the Westchester Symphonic Winds, to include an inaugural performance at the Caramoor Music Festival. She has studied at the Interlochen Arts Academy, the University of North Texas and the Florida State University, and her teachers include Dr. Frederick L. Hemke, Patrick Meighan and Debra Richtmeyer. Currently an adjunct professor of music at Marist College and SUNY New Paltz, she was previously a visiting instructor of saxophone at Susquehanna University and on the faculty at the New England Music Camp. She has recently released a new recording, Playback, music for saxophone and bass trombone, which is available on iTunes, Amazon and cdbaby.com. Her sixth grade band director suggested the saxophone, and although she cried when she first saw the instrument, she has no regrets.
