Johan de Meij and Hans de Jong

NJWS welcomes guest conductor and composer Johan de Meij as well as saxophone soloist Hans de Jong (Royal Conservatoire, Belgium). The NJWS opens it 40th concert season with guest conductor and composer Johan de Meij and welcomes saxophone soloist Hans de Jong (Royal Conservatoire, Belgium).Our concert features two works written by guest conductor Johan de Meij. A transcription of Suppe’s classic Morning, Noon and Night, marches by John Williams and Sousa and an inspiring work of hope by Frank Ticheli round out the first concert of our season.

We bring our season to a close with a concert featuring outstanding young musicians who may help the NJWS continue to perform for the next 40 years and beyond!This concert features our 13th Annual Side by Side Concert, the winner of the 17th Youth Soloist Competition, and Eric Whitacre’s “Godzilla Eats Las Vegas”.
